Riverside: Passenger Elijah Jones Killed in Collision

Shortly before 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 25, 19-year-old passenger Elijah Jones was killed in a collision in Riverside. The fatal accident occurred when the compact car he was riding in collided with another car at the intersection of John F. Kennedy Drive and Trautwein Road. Paramedics transported him to an area hospital, where he died a short time later. Police are investigating the accident.

“When a passenger is killed in an accident, the at-fault driver may be held responsible for expenses associated with the loss suffered by the family of the passenger,” explained California car accident attorney James Ballidis. “In many cases, the family will file a wrongful death claim against the driver.”

In Riverside, traffic collisions claimed the lives of or caused injury to 1,316 people in 2010, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. Riverside ranked 8th out of 13 cities with populations of more than 250,000 for its incidence of fatal and injury crashes that year; 1st place is the worst a city may receive.

All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of Elijah Jones, the passenger who was killed in the collision last Saturday.
