Shortly before 12:20 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, a vehicle struck and seriously injured a pedestrian in the Rossmoor community of Walnut Creek. The motorist swerved from the road at the intersection of Stanley Dollar and Tice Creek drives, jumped a curb, and struck a pedestrian walking on the sidewalk. Emergency responders transported the driver and the pedestrian to area hospitals, the pedestrian to receive treatment for major trauma. Authorities are investigating the accident and have asked that witnesses, or anyone with information, contact the Walnut Creek Police Department at 925-943-5844.
“When a pedestrian is injured in a traffic accident, he or she may hold the at-fault party liable for recovery-related expenses,” explained California injury lawyer James Ballidis, “such as for medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering.”
Seventeen pedestrians suffered serious or fatal injury in traffic accidents that occurred in Walnut Creek in 2010, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. The OTS ranked Walnut Creek 55th out of 103 cities for its incidence of fatal and injury pedestrian accidents in a rating system in which 1st place is considered the worst.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to wish a full recovery to the pedestrian who was struck and seriously injured.
