Shortly after 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 27, a motorcyclist was seriously injured in a fiery collision in Temecula, reported The Press-Enterprise. The accident, which involved two riders, occurred in the northbound lanes of Interstate 15 north of Winchester Road. When firefighters arrived, they found one rider engulfed in flames. Emergency responders transported the rider to an area hospital to receive treatment for moderate to major trauma. Authorities are investigating the crash.
Temecula accounted for 1 of the 36 fatalities and 41 of the 507 injuries motorcyclists suffered in collisions that occurred in Riverside County in 2010, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. The California Office of Traffic Safety ranked Temecula 9th out of 53 cities of a similar size for its incidence of fatal and injury motorcycle accidents that year in a rating system in which 1st place is considered the worst.
